bookAAC Service Delivery: Building Communication Competence

Although having a the “hardware” of a well-designed AAC system is critical to effective communication, unless use of the system is supported by well-designed implementation plans that include the supports and services needed by the individual who will be using the system and those around him.

In order to make effective decisions about AAC supports and services needed, there are many issues that must be considered. The section of the module, which is currently under development, will include a discussion of issues related to building communicative competence on the part of the user and others in the environments.
